Remember the stroy of the 5 blind men and the elephant? Each one of the men touched a separate part of the
beast and decided it was a different object - a snake, a tree, a rope. The tale reminds us to stop, back up
and look at a subject from a distance, to see the whole picture before we decide exactly what's going on.
That's easier to say than do for those of us here on earth. None of us can have the whole picture, simply
because we're human. Think of Jairus when his daughter fell ill.
Jairus "saw" the truth: Jesus could save his daughter! But Jairus's faith went "blind" when servants brought
news of his daughter's death. Like the 5 blind men in the fable, Jairus got only part of the picture of Jesus.
It took Jesus' miraculous touch as He raised the girl up to open Jairus' eyes to the whole truth. Only when the
healing was complete, could Jairus know that God, not people, sees the whole picture. This week when you face
dark or daunting circumstances, remember Jairus and don't assume you know it all. Stop, talk to God and take a
second look. goes wrong. Worth a second look.
