Inn from the Cold

Inn from the Cold

St Joseph's provides a safe refuge for Calgary's homeless through the Inn from the Cold. On the 3nd Friday of every other month, volunteers set up the church hall, bring food, serve supper and visit with guests, including many women and children. In the morning, breakfast is served and a substantial lunch is provided. Later the hall is cleaned and supplies put away. Other parishioners do laundry or provide gifts cards or other presents at Christmas.

All parishioners are invited to participate in the Inn. Sign-up sheets for several months are posted on the bulletin board in the upper foyer. There is no month to month commitment:  you may participate once or many times.  There are great opportunities for families to volunteer together.  Time required varies depending on the task.   The atmosphere is fun, compassionate, and non-judgmental.  We don't provide counseling or life skills, but we do ensure that our guests feel valued and welcomed.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in..."

St Joseph's Inn from the Cold is looking for parishioners to help with the next Inn on October 15 and 16. Please look at the sign up sheet and volunteer roles posted on the bulletin board in the lower foyer and see if you are able to help by bringing food, visiting with our guests, doing laundry, or helping in the kitchen for dinner or breakfast. For any questions, contact: Dan or Elisa at 403‐282‐9653.
