World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life

Each year on February 2, the Church celebrates the Presentation of the Lord, recalling Mary and Joseph bringing the child Jesus to the Temple. Recognized as the Light of the World, Christ is honoured on this feast with the traditional blessing of candles. In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II designated this day as the World Day for Consecrated Life, inviting the whole Church to give thanks for those who witness to the Gospel through lives consecrated to the Lord.

• Join Bishop McGrattan on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, 5 pm Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, as we give thanks for the gift of Consecrated Life and its vital contribution to the Church. A reception will follow in St. Mary's Hall. All are welcome.
