Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the door to a new and supernatural life that frees us from original sin, confers sanctifying grace, and makes us members in Christ and in His Church. Baptism is the foundation of the unity that all Christians have in Christ: a unity we must seek to perfect.

In Baptism we promise to reject sin, and the glamour of evil, and Satan, the father of sin and prince of darkness; and, we profess our faith in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We commit ourselves to membership in Christ’s church and to strive for life everlasting in a life of service to God.

Parents who are seeking Baptism for their child, as well as adults who wish to be baptized, are asked to contact our Pastor, who will assist in their preparation for this Sacrament and make the necessary arrangements.

Please contact the Parish Office at 403-289-2591 or office@stjosephcalgary.com

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission…” ~ CCC #1213
