& First Eucharist

The Sacrament of Reconciliation not only bestows on us the gift of having our sins forgiven, but also reconciles us with God. Remission of sin is a completely free and undeserved gift, a newness of life which we could never earn. There is no sin that cannot be forgiven, if we approach the throne of mercy with humble and contrite hearts. No evil is more powerful than the infinite mercy of God.

First Reconciliation & First Eucharist Preparation Program

Welcome Parents of Children inquiring about First Reconciliation & First Eucharist! In the Diocese of Calgary, children receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist must first receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Therefore, preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is combined in the same school year.

Who Should Register?

Children in grade 2 and up who had been baptized or made the Profession of Faith in the Catholic Church can register for the Sacrament Preparation Program. Children who have not been prepared for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation but have already received First Eucharist can register for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation only. Please indicate on the registration form that your child will only need to take the First Reconciliation portion of the combined preparation and submit your child’s First Eucharist certificate. As the preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is combined, children who have not received the Sacrament of Eucharist should register for both sacraments.

 

Registration Cost

Each Sacrament Preparation Program costs $25; the cost for the combined program is $50. This covers the materials being used.

Format of Program

We will be adopting a ‘Parent & Child’ Session this year where parents and their children are invited to sit together throughout a 75-90 min. session and engage with one another. All sessions will be led by a volunteer catechist team from the parish.

Information & registration for 2024 First Reconciliation & First Eucharist preparation sessions will be shared once they are available.
